When Urban Company was discussed and invested in, a few days after its listing, the core thesis was simple: A large, under-penetrated home services market, a profitable India core business, strong repeat usage, and optionality from new initiatives — with losses largely contained. Its 25000 Cr market cap at that time also compared favourably with other loss making listed platform companies like Zomato 325000 Cr, Nykaa 69000 Cr, PolicyBazaar 82000 Cr.
